Adam S. Lilling, CPA, CFA

Adam S. Lilling is co-managing partner of Lilling & Company LLP. Adam leads the firm’s audit division and specializes in auditing 401(k) plans, investment entities, broker-dealers, and commercial entities. Adam is a former Chairman of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Employee Benefits Committee. Adam’s background in finance has given the firm a unique perspective to auditing investments.

Prior to joining Lilling, Adam was an associate analyst at UBS in equity research, covering internet, advertising agencies, interactive media, and alternative energy. He wrote company and industry research reports, developed financial models of covered companies, and advised clients on investment decisions. Adam also worked at Bear Stearns in credit research.

Adam received his Masters of Business Administration, with distinction, from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and his Bachelors of Business Administration, with distinction, from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Adam was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor society at NYU and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at Michigan.

Adam is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst.  Adam is also a member of the AICPA, NYSSCPA, PICPA, and CFA Institute.

Mark S. Lilling, CPA

Mark S. Lilling is the founder and co-managing partner of Lilling & Company LLP. Mark is director of client services and leads the firm’s peer review division. Mark’s audit focus includes broker-dealers, investment entities, employee benefit plans, and not-for-profits.

Mark performs peer reviews of other CPA firms under standards established by the AICPA. Every year since the AICPA Peer Review program became mandatory in 1988, Mark has performed the most peer reviews in New York.

Mark is a frequent speaker and author on audit issues. He is the original author and creator of “Advantage Audit”,
a leading series of quality control material. Mark was a sponsor of a lecture series for the Vincent C. Ross Institute of Accounting Research at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Prior to founding Lilling, Mark was an audit professional at a Big Four accounting firm and was a partner at a top 100 accounting firm in the United States.

Mark received his Masters of Business Administration, with honors, from Saint John’s University and his Bachelor of Science from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.

Mark is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the AICPA, NYSSCPA, and PICPA.

Thomas J. Sherwood, CPA

Thomas J. Sherwood is a partner of Lilling & Company LLP. Tom has been with Lilling for over 25 years, is the lead technical partner, and leads the firm’s tax compliance division. Tom’s industry experience includes broker-dealers, investment entities, not-for-profits, and employee benefit plans. Tom also performs peer reviews.

Prior to joining Lilling, Tom worked in private accounting at a Fortune 500 company and worked in public accounting at other firms on Long Island.

Tom received his accounting degree from Plattsburgh State University College in 1984. Tom is a Certified Public
Accountant in New York and Ohio, and is a member of the AICPA, NYSSCPA, and PICPA.

Seth P. Heller, CPA

Seth P. Heller specializes in auditing employee benefit plans, broker-dealers, introducing brokers, and investment entities. Seth manages approximately 50 employee benefit plans including 401(k), 403(b), and profit sharing plans.

Seth received his Masters of Science in Accounting from Baruch College and his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. Seth is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA, NYSSCPA, and PICPA.


Craig Maurer, CPA

Craig S. Maurer, CPA has over 20 years of professional accounting, auditing and corporate and personal tax experience. Craig specializes in auditing Not-For Profit, Investment Entities, Employee Benefit Plans, and Real Estate Co-operatives.

Craig has experience in performing financial audits and compliance audits conducted in accordance with government auditing standards (Yellow Book) and those performed in accordance with the Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) regulations. In addition, Craig has worked with middle and higher education schools, medical practices, religious organizations, private foundations, medical research, arts and humanities, and social services organizations. He also has expertise with the preparation of the federal Form 990.

Previously, Craig has worked at EisnerAmper, Ernst & Young, and other regional and national accounting firms as well as in private accounting as a controller.

Craig graduated from the City University of New York Queens College, with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Informational Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Craig is active in the AICPA and NYSSCPA and has published several articles on Not-for-Profit accounting and auditing.

Christopher Aris, CPA is the lead senior manager for Lilling & Company LLP’s financial services audit division. Chris’ industry experience includes investment companies, broker-dealers, investment management entities, commercial entities, and employee benefit plans.

Prior to joining Lilling, Chris worked as a manager for KPMG in the Asset Management/Alternative Investments division and for other Big 4 and mid-sized regional accounting firms located in the New York City and Long Island areas for approximately 15 years.

Chris earned his accounting degree from Baruch College in 1998 and earned his Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School in 2009.

Chris is a Certified Public Accountant with active licenses in New York and New Jersey, and is also a current member of the AICPA and NYSSCPA.

Heng Wang, CPA

Heng Wang is a manager specializing in auditing commercial entities, employee benefit plans, broker-dealers, not-for-profits, and investment entities.

Prior to joining Lilling, Heng worked in private accounting at a Fortune 500 company and worked in public accounting at other firms in New York City.

Heng received her Master of Business Administration from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and her Bachelor of Science in Economics from Beijing Jiaotong University in China. Heng is a Certified Public Accountant in New York.


Lori Spagnuoli is a supervisor that specializes in tax compliance for individuals, businesses, trusts and not-for-profit organizations. Lori is also hands on providing client services to CPA firms enrolled in AICPA Peer Review Program.

Prior to joining Lilling, Lori worked in the business management department for an assisted living and rehabilitation facility and for a public accounting firm on Long Island.

Lori received her Bachelors of Arts in Accounting from Queens College, City University of New York.

Oren Kidanian, CPA

Oren Kidanian is a senior specializing in auditing employee benefit plans and broker-dealers.

Prior to joining Lilling, Oren worked at Berdon LLP.

Oren received his Masters of Science in Accounting from St. John’s University and his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Oren is a Certified Public Accountant in New York.

Samual Shing is a senior specializing in auditing employee benefit plans, commercial entities, and broker-dealers.

Prior to joining Lilling, Samual worked in private accounting at a media company in New York City.

Samual received his Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. Sam is a Certified Public Accountant in New York.
